Young Gun Trophy Winner: Guy Jolly

Skegness Stadium staged the inaugural 25 and Under Young Guns race; outside of the World Final this was the richest V8 race this season; the race I’m convinced will grow and grow in popularity in years to come and the race itself was hugely entertaining. A downpour just before start time meant a slippery, greasy surface for the first half of the evening; 14 cars in attendance for the title race; with quality throughout the field; a grid full of race winners it was difficult to predict who would win:

Guy Jolly (222) drove away from the battling red grade to take the title in dominant style. Jolly said of his victory: ‘Winning the Under 25 race feels great; it’s certainly a highlight of my career. Given the quality of the field, the young talent is top notch, anyone could’ve won it, so to come out on top and to be the 1st winner is awesome.’

‘The appreciation and well wishes I’ve had from fans, drivers and F1 drivers too just shows how highly the formula is regarded, how far it has come, the future looks great.’

‘From my point of view, the race was good. I’ve watched a video on YouTube; the stars battled hard which allowed me to get the break; the tricky conditions made it very slippy, but that seemed to suit me and the car. I was glad when the race was finished, the last 3 or 4 laps felt so long.’
