"No one spins me out and
gets away with it"
Controversy surrounded NiR yesterday when two top drivers clashed meaning a trip to the Hospital for one and some rather unnecessary comments from the other. Things started to boil up in the Final when 1 Chris Fort got crossed up in turns 3 and 4 and 191 Ashley Boam gave Forty a tap round - a racing incident that happens at every meeting. Only this time Chris Fort took exception to it and sought revenge in the GN. Around 5 laps in, Fort picked Boam up half way down the back straight and ran the 191 driver into the fence at full speed causing damage to both car and driver. Ashley tried to drive home after the meeting but could not. Instead the team took him to Hospital and he was released at 3.30am this morning. The Doctors were unable to ascertain the extent of Ashley's injuries and have asked him to return when the swelling in his shoulder comes down. The BoC have received 2 complaints against the actions of Chris Fort and will make an announcement at some point. It is expected that Fort may face some sort of disciplinary action. Now on a personal note, I like both drivers but I have to say that it seems Chris Fort has not reacted in an acceptable way considering he was spun and not fenced by Ashley who it must be said arrived on the scene to find a half spun #1 car. At this moment in time we are far from abundant in race cars / drivers so it beggars belief why someone with the calibre of Chris Fort should act in such a ridiculous way. For the moment, we are down a driver and very possibly we may be down another.
