The Forestry Commission are to back the V8 Hotstox for 2007. It is the first time that an organisation as prominent as this has been involved in the sport and is quite a coup for the V8's.
The Forestry Commission are a Government department responsible for reclaiming, sustaining and expanding Britain's woodlands and forests. The Commission's responsibilities span research, commercial timber production, sustainability programmes and policy, as well as learning and leisure. They work with a whole range of partners from private sector landowners to sports clubs, local communities to national businesses, on a whole host of recreation, regeneration and educational schemes.
The exact nature of the deal is still to be finalised but it is thought that the National Points Championship will carry substantial funding. The National, & British Championships will also carry a tidy purse and it is understood that a £500 Dash for Cash will also feature at some point during the season. The exact date will remain a mystery until the day of the race !
Drivers will be urged to display the Forestry Commission logo on their cars and decals will be produced and drivers will 'Display and get Paid' !! as anyone finishing in the points who doesn't have a decal will not be eligible for prize money ! I'm certain the drivers will be happy to oblige.
