'First impressions were good, a very tidy place with a big clean and tidy pit area, flat and covered with
gravel. There were block built toilets, hardly palatial, but clean and functional, close to the track and
some in the pits too. The track looked bigger than I had imagined, something on the scale of Coventry
in length, and surrounded in a similar type fence.....two heights of armco with a top rope all banked
with earth and not short of posts! Entry to the track is in the middle of the home straight through a big
framed pit gate, very like Hednesford. The starter's gantry is above the track, again akin to Hednesford.
The track itself is concrete surfaced and has been down for nearly 20 years, as you would imagine it
has worn quite smooth, not the grippiest of tracks, but the formulas racing certainly didn't experience
too many problems....the Hot Rods were pretty quick!
All in all the place seemed well run, clean, tidy and I think the Hot Stox will look great with 20 or more
cars racing round it! After discussion with promoter Keith Hook, we look likely to agree a date this week
.....he seems keen to stage one and I think it would be a good addition to the fixture list this year. '
An initial date of 11th September has now been agreed, although it has since been realised that this
date clashes with the F2 World Final, so another date sometime in June will probably replace that.
Seriously good news for the Hotstox ! A big thank you must go out to Neil, Brian & Keith Hook. I am
sure that the meeting will attract quite a few stock car folk.
