2014 was a year in which saw Phoebe Wainman (211) take a meteoric rise to the top of the V8 Hotstox formula, making history in the process. Starting the season from blue, she dominated the early meetings; picking up wins at most of the meetings in the first grading period and topping the National Points chart – the first ever lady to do so. At the end of April, Wainman was upgraded to Superstar – you would be mistaken if you thought Phoebe stopped winning there – she carried on picking up victories after the upgrade to the back of the pack.
As the season wore on; Wainman slipped back in the points chase and a Summer full of mechanical problems held her back.
2015 though will see the 211 team full of confidence again as she looks set to be all guns blazing to take on the top drivers once again with a specific tarmac car being prepared in the Silsden workshops to run alongside her trusted pink machine. Here Phoebe explains why she’s going for two cars in 2015:
‘I was finding it really hard to compete on tarmac with one car, the shale car is quick and handles well on shale, but wasn’t very competitive on tarmac, so, we decided that the best thing to do would be to build a tarmac car.’
She added; ‘We have bought Colin Taylor’s (Ex-147) old car which we have refurbished and it looks mega now! My plan for 2015 is to keep superstar, hopefully win another championship and just have another successful year’
‘I would like to say a massive thanks to my Mum, JJ, Dan Clifford, Binsy, Denby, Chris Fort, Neil Stutchbury, AKA, Jason Holden, all the sponsors who came forward to go on the new car and also my Dad, because he has been a saint!
The car has been kept strictly under wraps, but will be unveiled in all it’s glory at the NEC Autosport show 10th + 11th January. The car will be featured on the BSCDA stand, make sure you stop by.
Finally; what the car looks like isn’t the only secret; the name of Phoebes car is famous as much as the driver herself; Phoebe went on to say about the new car ‘He does have a name… everyone is so intrigued by what I’m calling it haha!’ – Something else to find out at the NEC!
